No.6: Sweet 6 for the Pittsburgh Steelers

Image
Ben Roethlisberger lifting the Lombardi Trophy  Number six. Well you know I have to dedicate it to one of the most storied franchises in NFL history the Pittsburgh Steelers. This one is about their sixth championship which has become one of the most unbelievable matches of all time. The Steelers were taking on history as if they won in Tampa, they would be the most successful team in Super Bowl history with 6 Super Bowls to their name. That's right of the 52 Super Bowls the Steelers have been in 8 Super Bowls, and they have won 6. They won their first 4 championships in the mid and late 1970s. Their previous victory was 3 years earlier as they took part in Super Bowl 40 and defeated the Seattle Seahawks in a 21-10 win. However, the year after their then head coach retired and hired former Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin. WR Hines Ward attempting to avoid a tackle Pittsburgh finished 2nd in the AFC with a 12-4 record and at the time made history b...

No.7: Ravens survive comeback after blackout

Image
The last ever match in Ray Lewis' Hall of Fame career. Number 7 is one of the most entertaining matches it had it all. Two legendary teams in the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. Two brothers as head coaches. Beyonce as the halftime show and a half an hour stoppage because half of the stadium had a power failure. Oh and a final game for an NFL legend and one of the most respected players in NFL history. Super Bowl 47 was held in New Orleans 7 years after Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans were hosting its 10th Super Bowl. For the city, it was significant as they were hosting their first Super Bowl in 11 years and the revenues were used to pay back the debt the city accumulated for damage repairs. Another headline was that two brothers were facing each other in the Super Bowl in Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh and 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh. This was the second contest as they met a year earlier on Thanksgiving night with the Ravens winning 16-6. LB Terrel ...

No.8: Saints end Katrina Nightmare with first ever championship

Brees lifting the Vince Lombardi trophy. Hey, all number eight in the Super Bowl countdown is not just one of the greatest matches but a fairytale ending for a city recovering from one of the most devastating storms to hit America. Super Bowl 44 featured two of the top offences of the season with the Indianapolis Colts with Peyton Manning at the height of his abilities. The other was one of the hottest offences to grace an NFL field which was the New Orleans Saints, and their future hall-of-fame quarterback Drew Brees. For the Colts, it was a return to the site of their last Super Bowl victory 3 years earlier. Meanwhile, for the Saints (infamous for being the laughing stocks) it was their first-ever Super Bowl, and that was something that no one was saying after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city and even damaged the Superdome. Peyton Manning with Jim Caldwell The Indianapolis Colts were one of the best teams in the NFL that year, with one of the best quarterbacks in the...

No.9 Von Miler and Peyton win the 50th Super Bowl

Image
What a way to cap a career Hey, all it's number 9 on my countdown, and it was a unique Super Bowl seeing as it was the 50th edition. The two teams were the 2-time champion Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers appearing in their second Super Bowl. It was in Santa Clara California, the new home to the San Francisco 49ers, and it was a battle between the number one offence and the number one defence. Manning calling plays at the line The Denver Broncos returned two years after the horror show at Super Bowl 48 when despite having the number one offence they were demolished 43-8 by the Seattle Seahawks. To help out that offence General Manager and former Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway spent the 2014 offseason spending money on defence. The result was bringing in 3 prominent name defenders in defensive end DeMarcus Ware from the Cowboys, cornerback Aquib Talib and Safety T.J Ward while giving quarterback Peyton Manning a new receiver in the form of Emman...

No.10 Gruden gets revenge in Super Bowl 37

Image
Hey, all with the Super Bowl coming up in a few days I thought I would do a top ten of the Super Bowl's that I've seen which is from Super Bowl 37 to last year's match. Let me explain the reason for doing a top 10 it's just I thought that I'd try something a little different, a countdown except the way I'm doing it is not only in terms of the result. But it will be done by the performances of the teams and how close the game was. This one at number ten isn't but because it was my first Super Bowl I had to include it. John Gruden lifting the Lombardi Trophy This Super Bowl was Oakland Raiders vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A California team vs a Florida team in a California stadium, advantage California right, well not exactly. You see the match preview was that the current head coach of the Buccaneers John Gruden had coached the Raiders in the previous 3 years taking them to an AFC Championship in 2000. Their 2001 season ended when they lost to the New En...
