NFL 2017 Preview NFC

Hey, there sports fans I've done the NFL's AFC Conference now it's time for the NFC. The NFC is seen as significant because it is home to teams representing America's prominent and famous cities. This should be a big motivation to win well; it is, but sometimes it doesn't work like that. Just like the last preview that I wrote, I will take a look at the divisions, and then at the end, I will pick my playoff teams from this conference. Sorry for this being late but I have been busy doing other posts and forgot to upload this one.

I'll start off with the NFC East and all of the four teams which represent 4 of America's most famous cities. The first team that is being said is the team representing the most famous city in the world. The New York Football Giants. Note how I say "Football Giants" the reason is that when the team was formed, there was another team called the New York Giants, but they played Baseball in the city now it's the NFL team that represents the city. The Giants are often seen as one of the biggest clubs with big superstars and even at one time had two of the NFL's top head coaches on its staff. Now they have one of the biggest superstars in the NFL in Odell Beckham Junior who can only be compared to David Beckham in terms of famous players who are well known around the world representing their sports. The Giants want to get their season off to a good start against the Cowboys this week and want to go further than they did last year which was get knocked out in the opening round of the playoffs. The next team in the division is the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia is well known for being a team that had always been good but never got to the finishing line. Two Super Bowl appearances, two defeats one by the Oakland Raiders and the other was New England's third Super Bowl victory. However, this is a team that's rebuilding with a second-year head coach and a second-year quarterback and is on the up and will be something big in the next few years but are just too weak compared to the rest of the division at the moment. The next team is the Washington Redskins. The Redskins are a team that is continually fighting for the division and keep on playing devil's advocate with their quarterback Kirk Cousins. The last team is one of the wealthiest sports clubs in the world, the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are worth 4 billion dollars, to put that into context Manchester United are the richest football club in the world at 1 billion dollars. However, despite that rich and being called America's Team since their last Super Bowl victory 21 years ago they have won two playoff games since, to put into context to win a Super Bowl in-season teams have to win either three or four-game wins in the playoffs. The Cowboys won the division and were seen as the best team in the conference however they were defeated at home to the Green Bay Packers in their playoff game. Time to see whether they are the real deal or once in a few years team.

The next division that will be talked about in the NFC North. The first team that will be revealed is a team that defies belief. That team is my team the Green Bay Packers. While all the teams in the NFL are based in cities in the tens of millions, Green Bay is a town of 103,000 plus and have 13 NFL championships including 4 Super Bowls whereas the nearest team with championships in the NFL are the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Packers are currently being led by one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, and some say he is the best quarterback ever Arron Rodgers. The Packers are looking to get back to the Super Bowl after being in two NFC Championships in three years losing to the Super Bowl losers and are seen as the overwhelming favourite to play and possibly win the Super Bowl. The next team is Green Bay's most prominent rivals the Chicago Bears. The Bears are a team that has had a massive transformation during the off-season. They had to find a new quarterback after Jay Cutler retired for a couple of months before signing with the Dolphins. This year is about trying to get themselves ready for the next few years. The next team in the division is the Detroit Lions. The Lions are a team that had come a long way from 9 years ago when they lost every game that they played in the NFL season and were an embarrassment to their fans and had are now playing with hopes to be in the playoffs after getting there last season and got beaten by Seattle. Now with quarterback Matthew Stafford getting a 5 year135 million dollar deal the team would like to see Stafford make the money stick and Stafford guide them to a championship game in the next few years. The last team in the division is the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings in preseason lost star running back Adrian Peterson to the New Orleans Saints and their stadium is hosting this year's Super Bowl. This has not been a good thing because the hosts of the Super Bowl have never performed in the game, the closest was the LA Rams in Super Bowl 14 and the San Francisco 49ers  in Super Bowl 19 when the game was not far from their home stadium but still had to travel to the game.

The next division is the NFC South. The South is home to the last two representatives of the NFC in the Super Bowl. First off is last years runners up the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are looking to try and remove the Super Bowl Hangover, and they have to do it in a problematic way. The team were 28-3 up near the end of the third quarter and blew a lead that big and lost in overtime. Now in a brand new stadium and the same players, including reigning MVP Matt Smith, like the ones that lost the game, the team looks to get back to the Super Bowl. The next side is the Carolina Panthers, the Panthers are a team that was seen as favourites going into Super Bowl 50 and lost it to the Denver Broncos. After a horrible 2016 season with Cam Newton struggling the team look to get back to the playoffs and regain as close to they can their 2015 season. The next team to look at is the New Orleans Saints. The Saints are a team that are a shadow of their former selves. This team took on a top-class Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl with future Hall of Famers quarterback Peyton Manning and Dwight Freeney and won by two touchdowns in Miami and then went back to the playoffs the following two years. Now with two future Hall of Famers themselves in Adrian Peterson and Drew Brees they look to go back to the playoffs for the first time since 2011. The last team in the division is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers are a team that is also looking to chase ghosts of former teams. At the end of the 1990s and early 2000s, their defence was seen as one of the elite defences in the NFL with two Hall of Famers in Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks who took them to a Super Bowl victory over the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl 37. Now it looks like the team wants to win with the offence being lead by Jamies Winston and having two critical weapons in receivers Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson. However, as the team are on the up, they are seen in most pundits eyes and thoughts as being a team that is one or two years away.

The last division is the NFC West. The first team in the division is the Arizona Cardinals. Fun fact here: the Cardinals are the oldest professional team still going, yes they are as they were formed in Chicago in 1898 and have played in Chicago, St Louis and moved to Arizona in 1988. They are also holders of a record as being the first-ever team to have 700 defeats. However, despite all this the Cardinals in the last decade, they are one of the talked about teams for the Playoffs. They even appeared in Super Bowl 43 and were seen as the team that should be defeated with ease instead they took the Pittsburgh Steelers all the way losing out in the final minutes but left every NFL fan to believe that no matter how bad they are if they work hard they can get to the Super Bowl. The closest they got to the big one was in 2015 when they got knocked out in the Championship game by the Carolina Panthers. The next team are the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams are in the second year of their second stint as the LA Rams after spending 20 years in St Louis as the St Louis Rams and ended up going to two Super Bowls in 3 years and had one of the best offences in NFL history. Now they want to make it big in LA again and after a horrible year for them in 2016 which ended up with them sacking long term Head Coach Jeff Fisher the team with rookie Head Coach Sean McVay and second-year quarterback Jared Goff the team looks to be a potential champion in the next few years. The next team is the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks are one of the elite teams at the moment with Russel Wilson as the quarterback and one of the top-rated defences at the moment, nicknamed the Legion of Boom. The team are looking to be one of the favourites and have Super Bowl pedigree with winning Super Bowl 48 and then being one yard short in Super Bowl 49. The team has to protect Wilson and get the offence firing to take the team to a Super Bowl because the defence is ready to play in the Super Bowl. The last team are the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are one of the most famous clubs and are one of three teams to have won 5 Super Bowls, the first team to do it in Super Bowl 29, the team are trying to emulate the teams filled with the ghosts of legends like Joe Montana, Steve Young, Charles Haley, Jerry Rice, Roger Craig, Bill Walsh and Ronnie Lott. The team, however, are rebuilding with the 3rd coach in three years with Kyle Shanahan as a coach. The team also are trying to separate themselves from the previous quarterback Colin Kaepernick who caused controversy last year when he protested the issues of black people being unlawfully killed by white police officers and are trying to recreate their public image.

My predictions for the playoffs are from the East: Cowboys, North: Packers, South: Falcons, West: Seahawks and the wildcards are the Lions and the Panthers.
