WHAT JUST HAPPENED?

What a week in Europe first off Liverpool coming from 3-0 down to win 4-3 last night and then Spurs pulling off an Istanbul. Spurs had a disadvantage in that they had to go to Amsterdam to play, which was a bad sign for them as they didn't have the home support like Liverpool. Spurs had to go out without Harry Kane but luckily had Jan Vertonghen back after coming off concussion symptoms. Also, Pochettino put Victor Wanyama for Eric Dier. Meanwhile, Ajax who had been creating headlines by defeating former champions Real Madrid and Juventus were looking to add to their trophy collection after they won the Dutch Cup at the weekend. Spurs had the advantage of away goals if needed.
Captain de Ligt scores for Ajax

The first half didn't go Spurs way. Dusan Tadic formerly of Southampton fired a shot 18 yards from the edge of the box which was deflected by Kieran Trippier but brilliantly handled by Hugo Lloris. On the ensuing corner, the Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt got free of the defence and headed the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal. Then in the 35th minute, Ajax doubled their lead on the night thanks Hakim Ziyech courtesy of Tadic cutting a cross back to him and finishing of the attack with a curling ball outstretching Lloris.

Ziyech with an absolute cracker of a goal
Spurs did have their chances in the first half with Son just a minute after going 1-0 down attempting to squeeze a shot between the keeper and the post only to see it come off the woodwork. At halftime, it was looking bleak for Spurs, and it looked like Ajax were going to Madrid to face Liverpool. They decided to make a change taking Wanyama off for Fernando Llorente. Spurs fans couldn't be blamed for praying for a miracle.

Then 7 minutes into the second half, Dele Alli received a cross by Eriksen, and he tried to squeeze a shot like Son's in the first half, but the Ajax keeper parried the ball out for a corner. Then 2 minutes later Moura ran through the defence and sneaked the ball past the keeper into the bottom corner of the net. The comeback couldn't have started surely?
Moura after the 1st goal.
Well, there was an answer when two minutes later Trippier crossed in the ball to Llorente who struck the ball into the keeper's hand he parried the shot into the middle of the box. In the melee which looked a Koscielny and Szczesny moment (sorry Arsenal fans it looked like it), Moura again got the ball retreated a bit to give himself room and fired into an empty net to make it 2-2 on the night, 3-2 Ajax on aggregate. There was a VAR check to see whether Llorente was either offside or handballed during his attempt or the clearance. VAR couldn't find anything, so the goal stood.

Ajax was looking to score again, and with 12 minutes to go, Ziyech turned up and delivered a strike which hit the post. Then it looked like both teams had just run themselves to the ground had no energy left. It looked like if Spurs had to win the game they had one opportunity left. That opportunity came with 5 minutes left as Eriksen delivered a corner which was headed towards Vertonghen who headed it onto the bar then the rebound was cleared off the line. It looked like it was game over. Then came stoppage time which added 5 minutes to the game.
Hat-trick hero Moura's winning strike

3 minutes in Ziyech wanted to make himself a hero taking a free shot nut was to close to Lloris, and he parried it to Tadic who curled the ball wide of the post. Then came the most significant moment in Tottenham history. Sissoko sent a high ball to Llorente he kneed the ball to Alli who quickly passed it to Moura with the last kick of the game sent the ball past the keeper into the bottom left corner to send Spurs fans and players crazy and break Ajax hearts. It even made BT Sport's Jermaine Jenas speechless and sent English football fans into a meltdown.

At the full-time whistle, the Spurs players ran to Moura, even Harry Kane with his lousy ankle couldn't help but do the same. That result meant that Spurs were now facing Liverpool in Madrid for the Champions League final. And that's not all with Arsenal and Chelsea in Europa League Semi-final action tomorrow night it could be a double all-English final in Europe, and we've still got the Premier League finale on Sunday. What could the Premier League provide to top this week? All I've got to say is this what a time to be an English football fan right now.
You did it Lucas!!!!

What an incredible two nights, comebacks, goals drama and who says football is boring.
