AJ wins to set up a potential fight against Fury

Joshua and Pulev in the pre-match face-off

Saturday night saw one of the top boxers in the world Anthony Joshua going up against Kubrat Pulev for the IBO, WBA, IBF and WBO World Heavyweight titles in his only fight of 2020 at London's Wembley Arena and looking to set up a dream match against Tyson Fury. When the match was declared, everyone thought it was the chance to do the match that should have happened in 2017 at the Principality Stadium. It was originally supposed to be fought in June at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but it got cancelled due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. What made it more interesting was that Tyson's brother Hughie was on the undercard and was this was meant to be a sign of things to come in the future.

The first round was a classic close fight to get the feel of the match while trying to get rid of ring rust from the last 12 months off. Round 2 started off with more jabs, but Joshua was starting to get his range in on Pulev. Joshua was dominating Pulev in round 3 and started hitting the uppercuts after Pulev missed a vital punch. Pulev even survived 2 counts by the referee. Joshua took the 4th round off to regain some energy for later on and learn from the Ruiz in New York.

The middle rounds were very slow, and in Round 7, Joshua started to pick up the pace. But Pulev landed a right at the end of it. AJ won at the end of the 9th round after knocking Pulev down twice in 30 seconds.

After this is the next round of speculation between the Fury vs Joshua fight. Though I believe that for the amount of interest for the fight it has to be after the pandemic ends to get a sell-out crowd either at Wembley Stadium or somewhere in the UK. Even Eddie Hearn said that "the discussions begin tomorrow". Then Fury tweeted that he will "knock him out inside three rounds".

Any more updates on the possible fight will be posted on the page.
